To Clinch or Not to Clinch?
A few thoughts as Dallas looks to lock up the Central Division on Thursday
The Dallas Stars can clinch the Central Division tonight. With a win of any kind against the Winnipeg Jets, Dallas would lock up their first division title since 2015-16.
The last time they did it was almost eight years to the day, as you see from my post yesterday. That 2015-16 team was high-flying, high-risk, and high-stress. But they were sure fun to watch.
But today feels different.
Going into their final three games, the Stars feel like a force. They not only have a shot at clinching the division, and locking in an advantageous Colorado-Winnipeg first-round matchup in the process, but they have a four-point lead over Vancouver atop the Western Conference and trail the New York Rangers by only one point in the President’s Trophy race.
